Sri Lanka Wedding Photographer // Rachael + Dan

Due to living overseas we had to approach photographers over Skype. We were immediately struck by Matt’s personality and enthusiasm, and loved his ideas and approach to our wedding. When we finally met Matt in Sri Lanka we knew we made the right choice, his discrete style instantly fitted in with the wedding crowd and he managed to get shots without anyone realising he was there. The photos are amazing and better than we could have hoped for, Matt captured the day perfectly and we’re so grateful he agreed to come along!

I don’t think I could ever thank Rachael and Dan enough for the experience they gave both me and my wife Ellen when they asked me to photograph their wedding at Kahanda Kanda in Sri Lanka. Not only has Sri Lanka swiftly become my favourite country but I feel we’ve made friends for life! We were both made to feel so welcome whenever we spent time with them – thank you so much guys – you’re bloody legends.

Where do I start! Kahanda Kanda is a beautiful venue. In their own words – ‘Set amidst the palm fringed jungle and tea plantations of southern Sri Lanka, Kahanda Kanda is a hidden gem where culture, wellness and luxury combine.’ I couldn’t agree more! The staff, much like everywhere we stayed during our trip of Sri Lanka, couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. I think thats a trait that is deeply embedded in Sri Lankan culture.

The food is amazing everywhere and Rachael and Dan’s wedding day was certainly no exception!! I could eat Sri Lankan curry everyday. It’s right up there with my favourite (Italian, in case you were wondering!). I’m yet to try and recreate any of the amazing dishes we ate out there, but its on my list of things to do.

The weather in Sri Lanka can be a little hit or miss in July, as its technically the inter-monsoon season. We had a tiny bit of rain for about 5 minutes as everyone was getting ready but it didn’t affect the day in anyway whatsoever. One thing for sure it was HOT. And not just hot. It was super humid!! I don’t think I’ve ever been so sweaty in my life, but its got to be a sign of working hard, right?!

I think as usual I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. Sit back, relax, and take a look at some of my favourites from an amazing day below…

For the photographers; everything was shot using Fuji x-Pro2′s and a combination of the 16mm, 23mm, 35mm and 56mm prime lenses. Any questions about anything please don’t hesitate to ask.
