Staying for the party, the energy and the chaos
Some of the most unforgettable moments of a wedding happen long after the formalities are over.
When the lights are low.
When the music is loud.
When everyone has stopped thinking about the camera.
This is the part of the day I love most.
Why I stay late
Evening celebrations have their own rhythm. The energy fluctuates but more often than not starts with a bang. People let go. The atmosphere changes. The celebration becomes completely unfiltered.
My approach to wedding party photography is immersive. I’m close to the action, moving with the crowd, reacting in real time. The images feel alive because I’m right there in the middle of it.
In the action, not observing from afar
I don’t photograph parties from the edges of the room. I want the images to feel like you’re inside the moment — not watching it happen.
That means being comfortable in low light, anticipating movement and embracing the unpredictability of the dancefloor. It’s energetic, fast-paced and incredibly rewarding.
The value of extended coverage
This is why I offer a 12-hour wedding photography option. Some of the most honest, joyful moments happen late in the day — and they’re worth documenting too.
Choosing longer coverage isn’t about quantity. It’s about allowing the story to unfold fully, without having to watch the clock. And lets face it, those mad party shots are likely to be firm favourites once the memories have faded.
A different kind of storytelling
Party photographs aren’t polished or restrained — and they shouldn’t be. They’re about atmosphere, connection and shared experience.
They capture the feeling of the night: the movement, the music and the emotion of everyone finally being fully present. For me, this is where documentary photography truly comes alive.
