The Masters of UK Wedding Photography is a national competition that gives out awards to the best UK wedding photographers. It’s judged by some of the best wedding photographers in the world and as a result, the standards are exceptionally high.

I was over the moon to find out that I had two winning photos in this round of the competition. Here they are…

I absolutely love this photo from Gemma + Iain’s London wedding. I’d been watching people dancing for a little while. I noticed the fire exit sign and immediately thought it would be great to try and mirror the shape of the sign with someone dancing. The lights on the dance floor were flashing between lots of different colours so I thought the chances of me getting someone pulling the right shape and the green colour also being present were very slim indeed. Suddenly the dance floor cleared a little leaving Gemma’s grandma dancing alone. ‘This is my chance’ I thought. I started shooting – desperately trying to manifest a green light – and suddenly BAM – it all fell into place. I love the photo as it pulls a lot of inspiration from my street photography.

This photo from Sophie + Tim’s wedding in the South of France is one of my all time favourite getting ready photos. I’d seen Sophie’s reflection a little earlier in the day and realised that it worked really well with the placement of her wedding dress and shoes. I took that photo but the street photographer backdrpos in me wanted another layer to the image in the middle of the frame. I knew it could be better! As soon as the registrar sat down and started walking Sophie through the ceremony I knew that was my moment. The rest as they say, is history!
